Skid Car Courses

We are now able to offer Skid Car Courses, in association with ActionDrome in Swindon.

Bad Weather Simulation Course

This course is designed for learner drivers, or for anyone who has recently passed their test.

Losing control of the vehicle is one of the main reasons why inexperienced drivers crash. The loss of control is not always down to dangerous or reckless driving but instead is often due to a lack of knowledge.

This course is designed to give the inexperienced driver a better understanding of how to drive in bad weather. As well as how to avoid losing control of the vehicle in the first place.

You will be driving a state of the art Skid Car. Unlike Skid Pans, the Skid Car can simulate different weather conditions. So one minute you will be driving in Snow, then it could be Ice or maybe Heavy Rain. Of course you will always be told what the weather conditons are before hand, and what we are going to be doing.

The Course will cover:

Skid prevention
Driving in Bad Weather
Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS)

The Level 1 Skid Car Course will last for one hour, and is run with three students. You will have plenty of driving time, as well as a chance to feel what it is like to be a passenger in a vehicle that is out of control.

All Drivers will receive a Level 1 Skid Car Certificate.

The course costs Ł59 per person. If you are learning to drive with us the course will be subsidised, there is also a friends and family rate.

The Level 1 Skid Car Course is exclusive to Church Farm Driving School. We will be undertaking the training and have set it up in association with ActionDrome Skid Car, in Wroughton.

Skid Car Level 2 Training Course

This is a more advanced course. It lasts for three hours and will cover:

Adopting correct attitude when driving in adverse weather
How to recognise & prevent understeer & oversteer
Why greater braking distances are needed in bad weather
Theory & practice of skid control/skid prevention
How to prevent and control front and rear wheel skids
How to brake and swerve on a slippery surface
How to use ABS safely and effectively

Theory is mixed with practical and you drive in all road conditions from "dry" to "ice and snow" without leaving the safety of the training centre! The course is great fun, and you leave with sufficient experience to make you confident on slippery roads.

The three hour Skid Car Course costs Ł99 per person.

All Drivers will receive a Level 2 Skid Car Certificate.

A fun, professional training course suitable for anyone who can drive a car. With three drivers to one instructor, the hands-on time is high and the course is great fun.
